Dr. Vandana Sajankila, MD, was born in Kerala, India. Her early education was conducted in Kerala before she embarked on her medical journey. She attended Kharkiv Medical University in Ukraine, where she earned her prestigious MD degree. Driven by her passion for medical care, she practiced for five years in India before transitioning her career to the United States.
In her pursuit of excellence, she underwent specialized training in pediatrics at Michigan State University in Lansing, Michigan. Dr. Sajankila’s commitment to the field led her to become a part of The Children’s Doctor in November 2007. She possesses the distinction of being board-certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and is recognized as a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Since then, she has been appointed as Western Maryland’s Regional Board Representative for the American Academy of Pediatrics. She also acts as the Chair of the Pediatric Department at Regional Meritus Medical Center.
Dr. Sajankila’s professional expertise is focused on the intricate domains of genetics and dermatology. Outside of her medical engagements, she finds solace in music, long-distance running, the world of literature, and rooting for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Dr. Sajankila’s personal life is enriched by her marriage and her role as a mother to two children and two dogs.
